Ásta Sigurðardóttir was a prominent person in the city life of Reykjavik during the 1950s and 60s. As an author, artist and model, she lived an unconventional life, which she slowly but surely lost control of and died when just over forty years of age.
Among the works she left behind were drawings she made for a set of playing cards, seeking inspiration from Icelandic folk tales and beliefs.
She never managed to complete this project, however, and so Ásta’s cards were never produced- that is, until now.
